The benefits of using the Zack and Millie yoga cards on a regular basis will help your child with each and every one of those problems. They will become stronger, fitter, more flexible and more self confident. Doing these exercises with your children will help you as a parent to a closer, more intimate and confident relationship with your child and any problems they may have.

The yoga cards work on four distinct yet basic levels:

a. The yoga positions –the sun salutation - clear, clean and purify the energy system of the body providing physical calmness and mental focus and clarity;

b. The colours have been specially chosen to provide healing associated with each pose so that the pose has deeper benefits;

c. The movement and the breathing are coordinated which ensure that children take deep, regular and purifying breaths, which are absolutely vital for mental and physical progress. Children tend to take shallow, superficial breaths from their chests.

d. Self-confidence – the unexpected side-benefit. We so rarely question and note the effect that having allergies and other ‘problems’ have on our children. We are too busy trying to find a way to live with it, or to help them. In my experience it really negatively affects their view and opinion of themselves. Children hate being different. As yoga provides instant results, each day with each pose, you get better and better - it is enormously empowering for the children.

Background:

As my son got older (he is 7 1/2) I noticed that he had problems with focus, attention and clarity at school, which affected his grades and therefore his self-confidence.

During the childrens workshops I noticed that these problems went hand in hand with allergies, asthma and eczema. I also noticed that parents were desperate to be involved.

So Zack and Millie Yoga Cards were born - to 'con' children into doing yoga. And for parents to help children to help themselves.

Directions for use:

Spread the yoga cards out in sequence on the floor or a table and walk along doing each pose as you come to it. This ensures your child gets the benefit of the colour and the pose. Initially, pick up each card and read out the instructions on the back, do the pose yourself (or let your child help you into the pose) so you understand it and then help your child into the pose. Very quickly the instructions will become superfluous.

Find a time (or two or three) each week to set aside to do the poses. For example after football on Thursdays, will ensure that it becomes a habit. Regular, consistent use is of maximum benefit. You should start to see results in 2 - 3 weeks.
